Statement

The death of everything living is evoked through the bleakness and 'deadness' of the language.
'Precious breath' -could be his last.
'Cold glaucoma'- The world has lost it's light, it is blind. Life is the light.
'The world grew darker daily' -the world itself is dying because of the absence of life.
'Smoky light' even the light is dark and 'gray' -bleak and dead.
